Mühle-Glashutte Antaria Tag/Datum Watch

By John Galt

Muhle Glashutte have been coursing quite a stir this year with the introduction of many new lines spanning from sporty diver pieces to classic dressier pieces like this piece called Antaria.

Named after one of the brightest stars in the night sky, and marries the piece and star perfectly with its distinctly understated dial free from clutter just with a day date display tastefully inserted at 3pm position.

Two versions are being released opaline silver with polished stainless steel case with applied indices in light silver in keeping with the clean lines.

Other version being my personal favourite featuring an anthracite dial and bi-coloured case with stainless steel and rose gold which really catches your eyes with its red-gold hands and rose gold applique numbers this is a classically minimalist dress watch.

As classic dress watches go the case is on the large size being 42mm but have to say doesn’t wear large and being rather slender at only 11.5mm tall will slide under a shirt cuff with ease, but still allows some weight to it which give you a real sense of robustness to it. Inside the slender case beats the SW220-1 automatic movement with distinctive woodpecker neck regulator, Mühle rotor with a 38h power reserve.

The screwed in lugs curve seductively from the case to meet with a nice plain black leather strap with butterfly clasp to finnish this perfect dress watch off. For more info, please visit muehle-glashuette.de

Conclusion

This is an ideal dress watch for someone like me (large wrists) who find most dress watches to small case size, I personally prefer the mixture of stainless steel and rose gold compared to the all stainless steel version but would have liked to see a slightly different strap set up, a brown or crocodile type strap would work better but that’s my only minus point of this watch.
