Presenting the New Ancon X-35 Concept Watch

By Jonathan Kopp

Some weeks ago I asked myself the following question : “Has Ancon Watches created a round SevenFriday with a Linde Werdelin bezel?”

I was very intrigued by this watch, which hit me directly in the eyes.

Now I have more information about this watch.

I personally like it and now I’d love to try it. Really!! I think the round case is really nice, as well as the multi-layer dial. This type of watch is truly in the air of time, with the example of Seven Friday or Dietrich Watch. Very design watches with automatic movement and more at an affordable price. The X-35 Concept watch will provide an automatic movement (Miyota 82S7 movement), and sapphire glass to protect the dial.

The watch diameter is 45mm excluding crown, lug width 24mm, height 16mm, screw-down crown 8.5mm, two tiered crown protectors. The case is made of solid stainless steel with black or grey PVD-coating. It is water-resistance to 200 meters. The sapphire crystal is 4mm thick. Steel with smoked see-through glass case back.

The movement is a reliable Miyota 82S7 automatic movement. Power reserve 42 hours up, 21 jewels & vibration frequency 21,600 vph.

5-layer dial, applied index, unique hands, Day/Night indicator, small second and skeleton window at 7o’clock.

3-layer bezel, black or grey PVD-coated steel bezel is highlighted by a red/blue/yellow/green rubber joint & gun metal insert.

The rubber strap comes with a large interchangeable black or grey PVD-coated steel buckle, and of course you can also put a Nato strap on it. That will give a really nice style to the watch.

The price of this really fashionable watch is around USD$699… I have to admit that I’m really interested.

Gold 1

Talking about the other versions we can’t forget that the watch also comes in rose gold plated steel case and stainless steel. I must say that I really love the rose gold.

It’s very interesting and I find that all the details of the dial stand out as well. A real mix of classy, sportiness, and design… Also, it gives a nice contrast with its day/night indicator. The black point (if it’s necessary to find one), is that we don’t see clearly the small seconds at 7am. It would perhaps be interesting if also the minute hand was in rose gold plated steel to match the hour hand.

X-35C105 Orange Hand

The advantage of these fashionable pieces, is that all the follies are possible. Ancon also produced another version, with orange hands and orange edging on the case… Put an orange rubber strap on it and you’ll have the perfect summer watch.

SS version 1 - X35-C107

Finally, when looking at the Stainless Steel version, one arrives at a less discreet piece because of its large white center dial, which gives an contrast appearance to the other dials, but mainly the hands. It’s true that the reading time is very pleasant, and a thing not to forget, we have also an direct view of the very special design of the needles. For more info, please visit anconwatches.com
