Introducing the Bremont Wright Flyer Watch

By Osheen Arakelian

Bremont is fast becoming known as THE go to company for historical timepieces as seen by their incredible Codebreaker Limited Edition timepiece introduced last year. This year however, they have chosen to return to their roots and release an aviation timepiece that incorporates the ultimate piece of aviation history. Introducing the Limited Edition Bremont Wright Flyer, which incorporates an actual piece of the original Wright Flyer from 1903 as part of its movement.

What has been incorporated is the ‘Pride of the West’ muslin, fabric hand stitched by Wilbur Wright himself on the wings of the plane in order to achieve their historical first flight. For many years following the deaths of the Wright brothers, the Wright Flyer has been displayed in various museums but none have been able to achieve what Bremont have managed, to be granted the right to use a portion of the original muslin as part of an aviation timepiece.

The unveiling of the Limited Edition Bremont Wright Flyer was conducted at the Science Museum in London on the 23th of July. The timepiece will feature some of the original muslin on the rotor of the new Bremont BWC/01 automatic movement. The muslin will be decorated between the rotor plate and a sapphire crystal caseback to let onlookers admire this amazing feature. The watch also has 23 jewels featuring over 50hr power reserve; Glucyder balance and a hairspring adjusted using a micro-metric screw.

Housing the movement is a 43mm case available in 3 variants, polished stainless steel, rose gold or white gold all featuring the Bremont Trip-Tick case construction with integrated decoration ring. The dial is metal with white or black base colour, finished with period numerals and a specific 1903 Wright Flyer date specific sub-dial. The dial is finished off with superluminova coating for increased legibility. A domed sapphire crystal is also of course incorporated into the case with anti-reflective coating on both sides with the same sapphire crystal used for the caseback showing off that amazing piece of history.
